The specialty of Oral Medicine and Radiology deals with the clinical aspects of oral and maxillofacial diseases of local origin, oral manifestations of systemic diseases and nonsurgical management of oral potentially malignant lesions and conditions. The specialty highlights on accurate diagnosis and early detection of dental and oral mucosal changes and thereby providing better oral health care and proper referral for further management of oral diseases.
Maxillofacial imaging is the backbone of dentistry, that aids in clinical diagnosis. Conventional as well as specialized head and neck imaging modalities are used in diagnosing oral conditions.
Out Patient Clinic:
An average of 150-200 patients is screened per day in this clinic. The undergraduate students are provided with the clinical training in OP clinic. Specialty cases are also managed here.
Radiology Clinic:
The Radiology section caters to the needs of patients from all departments and manages 80 to 100 patients every day. We have a state of the art digital panoramic machine and intra oral x ray machines with facilities for conventional film imaging and digital imaging.
