The year 2015, witnessed the evolution of The Department of Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge including Implantology, in Govt. Dental College Thrissur. The humble beginning of the department was with a fifty admission of undergraduate students, in September 2015. The Department consists of 5 faculty members and 4 non – teaching staff.
The motto of the department is - “Be the epitome of academic excellence & set the global standards for holistic dental health.”
The Department of Prosthodontics have been keen to provide elaborate clinical & laboratory training for the undergraduate students. Our department, caters the needs of youngsters as well as geriatric patients, and offers improved treatment modalities for patients with multitude of problems including, complete and partial edentulism, prosthodontic rehabilitation of maxillo-facial and cranio-facial defects. It specializes in Implant prosthodontics, aesthetic and reconstructive dentistry which encompass Laminate veneers and full mouth rehabilitation. Research activities undertaken by the department is at par with any other post graduate institute. The Department helps our students to expand their horizons to attain professional skills, and clinical acumen, to excel in their academic areas, and acquire the best-in-class capabilities with unparalleled standards. The Department of Prosthodontics keeps abreast with technological advancements and is concerned about the meticulous oral rehabilitation of the multitude of patients approaching the department. The department envision to be the pinnacle of education and research, be the centre for clinical excellence, and care for the quality oral health of the human kind.
The Department of Prosthodontics and Crown &Bridge including Implantology, in Government Dental College, Thrissur has a well-equipped clinical wing to serve the needs of the community and a pre-clinical block, with separate dental material lab, preclinical lab and a well maintained Phantom – Head lab. The central library and department library has always tried to quench the academic thirst of our students by providing books and international journals for reference. The department has an exclusive dental implant clinic with implant surgeries done on a routine basis using the latest systems available in the implant market. We are welcoming in Interdisciplinary communication for patient therapy thus incorporating a holistic view in the treatment of patients with special needs. The department is endowed with an advanced first of its kind ceramic lab, which satisfies the need for metal ceramic restorations. The eminent faculty members, and the technical team of the department works hand in hand, to render excellent clinical service, impart impeccable knowledge, extensive clinical and preclinical training for the undergraduates, to fulfil the Vision and Mission of the department.
