Department of Pediatric & Preventive Dentistry (Pedodontics) includes all areas of adult dentistry that may be applied to children. It is one of the recognized specialities in Dentistry. It also includes certain specific procedures for infants and children such as Infant oral health care, Habit councelling, Early prevention of caries and malocclusion, diagnosis of systemic conditions etc. Child Trauma care is also an important part of Pediatric dentistry. The Pedodontics department at GDC Thrissur have always made it a point to keep high standards in academics and Patient care. The department is currently dealing only with Undergraduate students. Post graduation not yet started.
The department is giving academic training for UG students, Interns as well as Senior residents. Procedures done in clinic include Root canal treatment, Aesthetic restorations, Preventive dental care, Trauma care, Minor surgical procedures, Orthodontic , Orthopedic and Prosthetic treatments etc.
